Sick Leave Bank

Established in 1989, the Sick Leave Bank (SLB) provides members who are experiencing serious illnesses an opportunity to request additional paid leave from the bank after exhausting all personal accrued leave.

The Sick Leave Bank annual enrollment period is held each year during the months of April, May, and June. Employees joining the SLB must maintain a minimum balance of 48 hours before donating 24 hours.

Sick Leave Bank members, with an emergency illness or injury, should download and print the Sick Leave Bank Withdrawal Request Application (PDF). Please note that Sick Leave Bank members of the Institute of Agriculture have a separate form. Click here for the UTIA form (PDF). The completed form should be returned to the Employee Relations office at 232 Conference Center Building, Knoxville, TN 37996-4125.
