Tarah Keeler has been with human resources at UT since 2016 and is currently the Director of Compensation. She is responsible for classifying positions for the Knoxville area, assisting departments with employee compensation, overseeing position records in IRIS, and co-leading the statewide project work team to review and update job families.
After growing up in upstate New York, she moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1995 to attend college. Keeler received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and stayed there until moving to Knoxville in August 2016.
Before coming to UT, Keeler worked at the University of Alaska as a human resources analyst. She worked with job classifications there, too.
“I really enjoy how beautiful UT’s campus is,” Keeler said. She also enjoys the camaraderie of the Vol spirit.
She said living in Tennessee is much different than Alaska. Travel was difficult in Alaska because of the lack of major state roads. She likes how you can travel almost anywhere in Tennessee a relatively short amount of time—which has allowed her to visit many interesting places since moving here.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and hiking.
