On Monday, our campus will kick off Staff Appreciation Week. I am thrilled to see this idea take shape and I look forward to celebrating with you. Our staff members work extremely hard and are essential to the university’s success.
Gratitude, grace, and appreciation are important every day, but setting aside a week to focus on staff is an opportunity to encapsulate our thoughts and to hear more about our unsung heroes. It’s a chance to come together – staff and faculty – for events such as the annual Picnic on the Plaza—which we’ve been doing for many years—but also a chance to expand our efforts in to show staff how important they are to the university. A list of the week’s special perks and events is available on the HR website. We’ll also be posting stories each day and sharing them in Tennessee Today about a number of staff members who go above and beyond every day in their work.
I hope you will take a few minutes next week to reflect on the contributions of our staff members and to say thank you. My fellow staff members, I hope you spend time together this week as friends and colleagues and express gratitude to each other. There are many wonderful benefits to working on this campus including access to our library, museum, and world-class theater, to name just a few. This week we enjoy the benefit of wonderful colleagues.
Thank you for all you do for UT.
With kind regards,
Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources
