A flex year position is a non-faculty position which utilizes appointments no less than 195 workdays or no more than 240 workdays. Employees in flex year positions must be regular and paid monthly. An employee who is regular, full-time will retain full benefits and work for example 75% of the year with their 75% salary spread over 12 months. The flex year runs normally from August 1 through July 31.
Departments may want to change a position to flex year if the employee has periods in which the work load is lower. An example would be during the summer months if the employee works mostly with students. For assistance with a flex year position please contact HR at email@example.com.
