Objective:

To assure the transfer of annual and sick leave for employees transferring between the university, state agencies, a Tennessee Locally Governed Institution, a Tennessee Board of Regents institution and local school boards.

Who is affected:

All employees transferring as stated in the objective.

Procedures:

  1. Leave transfer between State agencies or other State colleges or universities and The University of Tennessee
    1. Transfer to The University of Tennessee – An employee who transfers from a university, state agency, a Tennessee Locally Governed Institution, a Tennessee Board of Regents institution or local school board in Tennessee may have their leave time transferred to the University in accordance with the Leave Transfer Between the University and State Agencies policy. Such employees must request that their former employer send a letter to Human Resources certifying their leave balances and the dates of their employment with that State agency.
    2. Transfer to State agencies – An employee who leaves the University and begins employment within 42 working days with a university, state agency, a Tennessee Locally Governed Institution, a Tennessee Board of Regents institution or local school board must transfer their annual leave to the hiring agency. Employees transferring to any university, state agency, a Tennessee Locally Governed Institution, a Tennessee Board of Regents institution or local school board in Tennessee shall provide HR the name and address of the agency to which he/she is transferring. HR will assist in notifying these agencies of employees’ leave balances.
