SUBJECT: Salary Increase for Passing Certified Administrative
Professional Examination
SECTION: 400
PROCEDURE: 465
RELATED POLICY: HR0465
RELATED FORMS: See policy
EFFECTIVE: 8/8/2019
Objective:
To establish the procedure for awarding a salary increase to eligible staff who pass the Certified Administrative Professional Examination (CAP).
Who is affected:
Non-exempt staff must contact HR-compensation before registering for the exam to determine if their position is eligible for the CAP salary increase.
Procedures:
Employees are responsible for all fees for preparation and registration for the CAP exam. If work time will be missed to take the exam, employees should work with supervisors in advance to determine if flexible hours can be arranged for that work week or if annual leave should be requested.
Employees who pass all parts of the CAP should submit through appropriate supervisory channels to Human Resources (HR) proof of their passing scores. The department should process a pay funding change, which includes documentation of passing scores, to award the salary increase effective on the first day of the pay period following notification of passing the examination.
New hires who already have passed the CAP are not eligible for the nine percent adjustment.
