The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks internal applications and nominations for the position of ombudsperson. The ombudsperson is a designated neutral and impartial dispute resolution practitioner. Reporting directly to the chancellor, the ombudsperson provides confidential and informal conflict resolution assistance to UT faculty and staff consistent with state and federal laws. The position reports directly to the chancellor. The term of the ombudsperson is renewed by the chancellor with the advice and consent of the Faculty Senate.
The ombudsperson serves as a resource for information on university policies, rights and responsibilities of community members and procedures for appeal and due process. The ombudsperson helps employees decide how best to resolve concerns as early as possible. The position will provide workshops or consultations on communications, problem solving, and conflict resolution as needed.
