Money & Mental Health

September 22, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. eastern

Mental health and money problems are often intricately linked. Money can impact our behavior and our mental health can impact how we manage our money. Making it a symbiotic, cyclical relationship. Furthermore, research has shown that finances are one of the primary causes of stress worldwide, with money problems being associated with an increase in mental health issues, particularly depression and anxiety. This session will explore the link between mental and financial wellbeing, including the intersection of money worries on anxiety, stress, and relationships.

  • Learn how to normalize conversations around mental health and money.
  • Understand how mental health and money are connected.
  • Discuss spending patterns and mood changes on the brain.
  • Identify triggers for poor financial decisions and how to break patterns of behavior.
  • Explore habits to manage your mental health and improve financial wellness.

How to Manage Finances

October 18, 2023, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. eastern

Participants will learn the importance of setting up and maintaining a budget. Information about establishing credit and the value of maintaining a good credit rating also are explored. While some saving choices may be reviewed, this class does not address long-term financial planning.

  • Evaluate your current financial situation.

  • Redesign your spending habits.
  • Explore ways to manage money more effectively.
  • Write an action plan to manage your finances.

Making the Holidays Happier

November 8, 2023, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. eastern

Participants will identify some of the factors that contribute to holiday stress. This session also explores a variety of ways to create the kind of holiday celebration that meets individual needs. Attendees will be able to make better choices for the holidays while lowering stress levels, improving family relationships and having more fun.

  • Identify the biggest causes of holiday stress.
  • Find coping strategies that promote well-being.
  • Practice setting realistic expectations.

Your Two Cents: Financial Roundtable

HR and BeWell will host a roundtable discussion about financial wellness. Participants will have an opportunity to share tips and learn from each other, as well as share ideas for future topics of interest for this series.
