Service and Recognition

Recognizing our staff and faculty members’ many contributions is critical to their sense of engagement and satisfaction. We encourage leaders at all levels take the time to reach out and offer a simple “thank you” for a job well done.  As part of our service awards package, leaders may visit iappreciate.com to find inspiration for service anniversary presentations and tips for how to effectively recognize employees, in-person or in a virtual setting.

Service Awards

Service Awards are designed to recognize our regular faculty and staff for their dedicated service to the university. Employees reaching five years of service will receive a certificate in a Lucite frame and a lapel pin with the UT seal. Further awards and certificates are provided in five-year increments beginning with the tenth year of regular service. You will be contacted by our service award provider around the time of your service anniversary date to select an award.

UT Knoxville and UTIA employees with more than 25 years of service are invited to either a spring or winter service awards celebration reception hosted by Chancellor Plowman. The reception date depends on an employee’s anniversary dates. January through June recipients will be honored at a spring reception and July through December recipients will be honored at a winter reception. Honorees will also receive a numeral block that celebrates the anniversary year they have achieved. Honorees are invited at five-year increments beginning with the 25th year of service.

Employees with 50 or more years of service will receive the Joe Johnson Lifetime Achievement Award. This special award is presented at the reception by Chancellor Plowman.
